The Ulta 21 Days of Beauty event has just passed again. In case you are unfamiliar, the Ulta 21 days of Beauty is a sale event where Ulta places certain products 50% off for one day only. This year this Tarte foundation was one of the products that I picked up on the sale to try. If you are unfamiliar with Tarte, they are a mid-tier luxury brand whose brand is rooted more in being natural. I am not making the claim that they are a “clean beauty” brand (because what does that even mean) but that is the way that Tarte brands themselves. They are cruelty free. This product is available at Ulta and Sephora. It may also be available at some department stores like Macy’s or Nodstrom but I am not sure. The product retails for $40 normally but I got mine for $20 during the Ulta 21 Days of Beauty sale. There are 25 shades total and seems to be pretty inclusive for a range of skin tones.

This product is marketed as a glowy skin tint and it delivers on the glow! I would say you can achieve light to medium coverage with this product. I would not try and build this up because it is so glowy and I would be concerned about looking too greasy or shiny. When I wore this I had to mattify it with a setting powder to control the shine in areas of my face that I didn’t want shine. The plus-side of this product is that you do not need to wear a highlight with it. The skin tint itself is so glowy that you look like you are wearing highlight, if you don’t mattify the product. In that respect, it’s a nice glow on areas of the face that you want glow. I got the shade light neutral and it was darker than my face but it did match my neck so I was able to make it work. I would suggest using a smoothing or pore filling primer under this product because the level of shine can highlight texture on the face if you have it. I would stay away from any hydrating or luminous primers under this because this needs no help to achieve a glow. If there is too much shine on the face it can really emphasize any texture that you may have on your skin and that is not cute.

This product did last all day on me when I tried it. It did transfer when I wore it to my barre and pilates class where I had to put my face on the mat at one point. I did not notice any major patchiness or the product breaking up throughout the day.

All in all, I would recommend this product to anyone with super dry skin or anyone who struggles to achieve luminosity. I would say that anyone with major texture on their skin should steer clear of this because it will emphasize texture on the face. I would also say that anyone with very oily skin would probably not care for this product because it will add to the shine on their face. I think this would work the best for young women or women with young looking skin that is very smooth with little texture.

This product retails for $40 and performed well for what it is. This is a skin tint and therefore the coverage will be lower than that of a full-coverage foundation. I think $40 is a little high for a skin tint. If you do want to purchase this product I would wait for Ulta or Sephora to have some type of sale (or issue a coupon). Ulta (like every other store) typically has sales around Black Friday, after Christmas, early fall and early spring.

I used the palette Colourpop Feeling Bubbly specifically the shade zesty on my eyes in the above photo. For a full review of that palette see my post here.

Bible Verse of the Day:

Psalms 138:3

In the day when I cried thou answered me and strengthened me with strength in my soul.

I have seen this verse play out in my life several times. I’ve had many difficult decisions to make throughout my life and have faced many difficult circumstances. I noticed a distinct difference when I started asking God for strength. When I would ask for God’s strength it comes with a sense of peace because I know that I don’t have to navigate my circumstances on my own.

Following God’s purpose for your life requires strength. It could require strength to face your fears. It could require strength to let go of old habits that aren’t serving you or perhaps old relationships that aren’t serving you or your purpose. The beauty in the grace of God is that if we call out to Him in prayer and worship and ask for strength, He will give it to us. It doesn’t matter how much strength we need or what we are doing, God has an unlimited supply of strength and He will give us what we need if you ask Him in prayer. Next time you have to make a difficult decision or are facing a situation that requires emotional and spiritual strength, I encourage you to remember this verse and to call out to the Lord and rest assured that He will give you the strength you need.

Until next time,

Samantha XOXO
