Fall fragrances are some of my absolute favorites! I love all the warm and cozy scents. I picked this fragrance up during Ulta’s 21 days of beauty event and have been using it quite a bit ever since. Philosophy makes a few variations of the fresh cream scent. This is the fresh cream warm cashmere. Personally I have never smelled the original fresh cream fragrance and therefore I cannot comment on that or how this one is different. This fragrance is available at Ulta. I have also seen Philosophy carried at Macy’s but I am not 100% sure if Macy’s has this specific product. The .5 oz size of this product retails for $24 and the 2 oz size retails for $50. According to Ulta’s website this fragrance is in the woody family. The fragrance notes are listed as top notes: juicy tangerine; middle notes: cashmere wood, orchid; base notes: vanilla bean, creamy sandalwood, skin musk.

The first note I smell when I smell this in the bottle is the vanilla and sandalwood. I really don’t detect any tangerine in this scent. When I first spray this on my wrist the first thing I smell is the vanilla. As the fragrance dries a little bit I can smell the cashmere scent. Over time the wood notes come out more.

This is an eau de toilette which means it isn’t as concentrated as an eau de parfum. The strength of the fragrance I would give a good medium. It has some solid base notes in there that give it a noticeable scent without being overpowering. This isn’t the longest lasting scent on the market. I wish it came in a rollerball or purse travel spray because this would be a scent that you may want to reapply throughout the day.

Overall, this is a beautiful fall scent. When I smell this I instantly feel cozier. This has some very warm base notes like vanilla and sandalwood which make it feel warm and luxurious without the luxury price. This scent does have a sweetness of vanilla to it. If you like Bath & Body Works warm vanilla sugar then you will love this scent. In terms of value, I would not say this is a horrible value. It is certainly not the longest lasting scent on the market but you do get 2 oz of product for $50 when most perfume brands sell their 1.7 oz bottle for significantly more than that. This is also not a strength that would be offensive if you wore this work or church.

To complete today’s look I used the Tarte Maneater Nightfall palette in the shades vixen (wine) and desirable (gold). For a full review on this palette see my post here.

Bible Verse of the Day:

Matthew 5:7

Blessed are the merciful; for they shall obtain mercy

I am about to get real vulnerable here but this is something I struggle with. Jesus Christ came to Earth to die on the cross for our salvation so that we can experience God’s mercy. I often find myself wondering how I can ever repay such a gift. The short answer to that is, you really can’t. However, God’s will for us is that we look more and more like Christ. My goal is for others to see God through me. One of those areas is that God is merciful, however, He also expects us to show mercy to others. If you think about it, that is really to our benefit. Think about when you get angry at someone and choose to hold a grudge? How does that feel in your body? I know for me it doesn’t feel good. Now think about how it feels to let a grudge go. You feel relief and freedom because that is what you got through that action. God is a good God and His word is here for our good. God does not wish for us to show mercy because he is dismissing our feelings but rather because He wants to free us from our anger, bitterness and all the other things blocking our joy and peace. Next time you are faced with a situation where you need to show mercy and grace to someone, I want you to remember two things that are starting to help me. One, we show mercy and grace to be a good representation of Christ and because He forgave and showed mercy on us. Two, it will benefit you in the end because it will give you more joy and peace.

Until next time,

Samantha XOXO
